BIO Organic Producer – Vogelsanghof
“My first thought? The wellbeing of my family.”

Look how happy the Platzgummer family are in the apple orchard!
The Vogelsanghof farm situated on the steep slopes of Morter has been in family ownership for three generations. Some of the orchards are in the surroundings, others are in Coldrano. While Albert pursues his own profession, his brother Richard, a qualified bricklayer, cares for their parents’ farm.
His knowledge about natural interrelations was deepened during courses and further specialized training. Richard cultivates Golden Delicious, Gala, Pinova and Red Delicious in his steep orchards very close to the forest and far away from the large apple plantations of the valley floor. They can be found between hedges and dry walls on natural terraces that constitute a perfect habitat for the useful insect fauna.
The Vogelsanghof farm has been growing organic apples since 1998. “I mainly thought of my family's wellbeing. When I go to the supermarket, I also check all the ingredients of the food I buy. Why shouldn’t I do the same in my orchards?”
