Fuji
Origin: The Fuji apple originated in Japan. It was cultivated in Morioka, Japan, in 1939 and created from a cross between the Rall's Janet and Delicious varieties.
Fruit: Fuji has a pale pink to dark-red and slightly striped colour with a yellow-green bottom. It is medium-sized, compact and very juicy. A occasionally slight glassiness is an indication of a high sugar content.
Taste: Fuji has an extremely aromatic taste. The apple is crunchy, juicy and sweet.
Ripening: Start/middle of October.
Marketing season: From October to May.
Recommendation: Due to its extraordinary sweetness and crunchy flesh, the Fuji is highly regarded as an ingredient in gateaux or desserts.
