Origin: Golden Delicious was discovered around 1890 as a random seedling in a house garden in West Virginia, USA. It is now cultivated all over the world.
Fruit: The colour of “Golden“ Delicious ranges from greenish yellow to golden yellow. Apples from hillside orchards are characterised by their typical red cheeks. The apples are medium-sized to large and elongated
Taste: The Golden Delicious has a juicy taste with a sweet aroma and fine fruit acid.
Ripening: Mid-September.
Marketing season: Mid-October to August.
Recommendation: Golden Delicious is ideally suited for immediate consumption, but also for baking and cooking as well as for different desserts, fruit salad, apple strudel, cakes, cocktails and compote.
