Pinova
Origin: Pinova has its origins in the city of Dresden, precisely in the village of Pillnitz. The variety is a crossing between Golden Delicious and Clivia. Pinova was introduced in 1986.
Fruit: Pinova is of a medium fruit size. At least 40% of the Pinova fruit is covered with a bright red colour (cinnabar red). This colour gives an inviting appearance to the variety, which also distinguishes Pinova from other bi-coloured varieties. The background colour ranges from yellow to greenish.
Taste: The flesh of Pinova is very crunchy, juicy and crisp. The apple has got a well-balanced sweet-tart flavour and is refreshing.
Ripening: end of September
Marketing season: from mid-January to June
Recommendation: The apple stores exceptionally well and is resistant so that storage is possible until the summer months without quality losses of flavour and bite.
