Blackberries
Origin: Blackberries originally come from the woods of Eurasia and North America. In Central Europe, blackberries have only been known since the middle of the previous century.
Fruit: Blackberries grow on blackberry bushes of 1.5-2 m with or without thorns that blossom from the beginning of May to August. These juicy, sweet-acidulous berries mature from July to the first frosts. They have a dark red, violet-black or shining black colour. Blackberries are characterized by their unique flavour.
Taste: Blackberries are juicy and delicious fruits.
Maturity: from July to October.
Recommendations: Blackberries are a real delicacy for raw consumption. They can also be used for delicious compote, jam, jelly, ice-cream, cake toppings etc. They are an important ingredient of rum pots. The berries should, however, be very ripe in order to contain their high levels of important nutritional substances and to develop their unique flavour.
