The popular saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" contains many truths: This fruit, which has been eaten and appreciated for centuries and originally comes from Central Asia, is definitely a superfood. What do we mean by this? It’s easy: apples are good for your health. We asked nutritionist Clelia Iacoviello to explain us the 10 virtues of apples: never again without.
1 Apples help during a diet Apples are low-calorie fruits as 100 grams of apples only have about 52 kcal. You can thus have an apple as a morning or afternoon snack without gaining weight.
2 Precious nutrients Apples are rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Furthermore, 84-88% of an apple consists of water protecting the body from drying out.
3 Apples encourage peristalsis Apples have a probiotic effect as they are rich in pectin. Pectin is a soluble fiber that positively influences the gut. If you suffer from constipation, we recommend you to prepare applesauce. Add a little bit of cinnamon and cloves and it is even more delicious.
4 Healthy peel Wash apples under running water and then eat them with the peel. This part of the fruit that many people simply put away is rich in quercetin, anthocyanin and pectin with an antioxidant effect. It also helps you if you suffer from constipation.
5 Apples protect the mucous membranes Thanks to the high content of vitamin C and B apples protect your oral and intestinal mucous membranes.
6 Good source of energy Due to the high levels of vitamin B apples are ideal if you suffer from tiredness. We thus recommend them in times of stress and fatigue and during seasonal changes.

10 Apples alleviate asthma When consumed regularly, apples positively influence the symptoms of asthma, which was proved by an American study published in the "Chest" magazine.
