From Biofach, the VIP Consortium confirms its European leadership in organic apples
Quality organic apples from Venosta Valley available 12 months a year, now with new 100% paper pack
At Biofach, the international trade fair of the organic sector in Nuremberg, VIP participates (Booth 7-361, Hall 7) once again as protagonist, confirming its leadership in organic apples in Europe, in terms of quality, quantity and market coverage.
In fact, thanks to the multiplicity of varieties produced, the Consortium ensures organic apples available 12 months a year. In addition to the Organic Golden Delicious, on the market from September for the next 12 months, and the Organic Gala, available from the end of August to April, VIP offers a range of Organic club apples which has different tastes, ripening and marketing periods: SweeTango®, Ambrosia™, Kissabel®, envy™, Kanzi® and Cosmic Crisp®, satisfying the requests of customers until late summer. This multiplicity of varieties provides advantages on several fronts: dividing the market risk, which is essential in such a convulsive moment; satisfying tastes and preferences of a variety of consumers; serving the distribution chains of many Countries around the world - Italy and Germany are the main target Countries, followed by Northern Europe, Spain, and the Middle East.
The basis of the success and solidity of the VIP Consortium is, above all, the very high quality of the product. The organic varieties product manager of the Consortium, Gerhard Eberhöfer, with the usual transparency of VIP, recognizes that they are also 'lucky': "During the hot summer of 2022, our Alpine position and the ideal microclimate helped us a lot. Thanks to these conditions, which are peculiar of Venosta Valley, our apples maintain the right freshness and crunchiness and a long shelf-life. The decumulation plan is in line with the scheduling we set in October”.
It should also be emphasized that all 280 farmers involved in organic cultivation in the Valley meet the strict guidelines of the Bioland or Demeter associations, which go far beyond the EU official standards for organic cultivation.

Gerhard Eberhöfer also underlines the important role of the processing and high-capacity packaging plant, created in 2019, entirely dedicated to organic products which allows a timely reaction to market requests and 100% traceability of each apple. Furthermore, following the recent reorganization of VIP, the operational sale of organic apples is organized and managed directly by the organic varieties product manager Eberhöfer in cooperation with the entire VIP sales team, offering customers an even more flexible and specialized service.

At Biofach the Consortium launches a new 100% paper pack, with a linen net that gives visibility to the product. The new packs, ready to be released on the market from the beginning of March, are emblematic of the Consortium's attention to the fullest environmental sustainability.
