The Apple Paradise of tomorrow needs us today

We take sustainability aspects into account in our economic, environmental and social decisions. Not because sustainability is becoming increasingly popular, but because we consider these aspects an important part of the way we operate. Our guiding principles are clear: we aim for economic sustainability for our farmers, environmental sustainability for our growing region and social sustainability for the community. These principles are incorporated into many areas of our activities. It is an ongoing process, as working with sustainability in mind continuously presents us with new requirements.

We take stock

From production to processing, packaging and distribution: Assomela, the Association of Italian Apple Producers, yearly examines the environmental impacts of Val Venosta Apples throughout their whole life cycle (Life Cycle Assessment, LCA). The results of this analysis are part of the EPD Environmental Product Declaration, which is based on the DIN EN ISO 14025 standard and contains the defined environmental performance indicators about our apples. These key figures are determined by the calculation of the life cycle assessment according to the ISO 14040 standards. This provides us with information on CO₂ emissions across the entire production chain and enables us to further develop our processes based on the environmental indicators collected.

Our organic farmers have names. They have faces. And they have their own reasons for being committed to the environment. Our BioGraphy portal reveals their stories and offers all consumers the opportunity to get to know the producers of their apples. All you have to do is type in the name of the farmer on the apple packaging.
