For the apples
Wash the Gala apples, dry them and cut off the cap. Remove the core with an apple corer. Grease the apples with a little butter outside, pass them in sugar and place them in a baking dish.
For the filling
Coarsely chop the almonds. Put the butter in a bowl, add the chopped marzipan, sugar and salt. Blend with an electric whisk until creamy and homogeneous. Add the oat flakes, chopped almonds, cinnamon, cardamom and vanilla extract and whisk again.
Preheat the oven to 170°C (convection oven). Fill the apples with the marzipan and almond filling. Cover with the cap and bake in the oven for approx. 30 minutes. The baking time may vary depending on the apple variety you use and the apples’ ripeness. Pierce the apples with a fork to check if they are baked.
