The apple is small to medium-sized with a smooth skin and a spherical, slightly conical shape. The bottom of the apple is bright yellow in colour while the top is bright red with a striped tinge.

The apple is ideally suited for immediate fresh consumption as it may lose its typical taste if stored for long periods.

Production Area

Gala is cultivated all around Val Venosta.

Royal Gala was selected in New Zealand in 1960 as the result of a cross between Kidd’s Orange and Golden Delicious.

The fruit is crunchy and juicy with a sweet aroma, and contains a low level of acid.
