Many apple varieties find the Val Venosta so good that the fruit, which ripens here, is especially mouth-watering. Pinova, the “Prince of Val Venosta”, originally a German apple for breeding new varieties, is a good example of this. Nowadays, some 90% of all Italian Pinova apples are produced in Val Venosta.
On one hand this is because of the sunny climate in the high orchards, which suits the variety particularly well and on the other hand because of the high national demand.
The Pinova, with its perfect balance of sweet and sour, is a true climber. No wonder, because it also carries the genes of the queen of apples, the Golden Delicious.
