Every bite of a Val Venosta apple becomes a truly special experience.
Let’s discover their stories.
Ideal Microclimate
Perfect harmony
Hi, I’m Franziska.
The microclimate in Val Venosta allows apples to grow in outstanding quality
I’m a sun lover – just like my apples. The many sunny days in Val Venosta are made for us. At night, due to the altitude, it cools down significantly – temperature differences can reach up to 16°C. These strong fluctuations, in combination with the many sunny days, give my apples a beautiful, vibrant color! As a local, I’m used to the Val Venosta wind. It keeps my orchards dry, which has many advantages for sustainable cultivation.
300 days of sunshine
Plenty of sunshine and little rainfall create optimal growing conditions for our apples.
High temperature differences
Between day and night, these help our apples develop a vibrant color.
Val Venosta wind
The fresh breeze keeps trees dry and helps protect against fungal diseases.
Alpine Apple Region
Alpine apple region
Hi, I’m Simon.
In the alpine-Mediterranean climate of Val Venosta, apples feel truly at home.
From my farm, I look out over a green valley full of apple trees, framed by the Alps and the Ortler range – a true paradise. When the trees bloom in the valley in spring, there’s still snow on the mountaintops. My apples feel just as at home here in Val Venosta as I do. At this altitude, they ripen more slowly than elsewhere – but as we from Val Venosta say: good things take time. We give our apples all the time they need to fully develop their flavor. And you can taste that in every bite!
Altitude
Apple orchards in Val Venosta are located between 500 and 1,100 meters above sea level.
Front runner
Val Venosta is the highest contiguous apple-growing region in Europe.
Alpine cultivation
Between 500 and 1,100 meters, cell division slows – resulting in firm, crisp flesh.
Apple Farmers by Passion
Apple farmers with heart and passion
Hi, we’re Sonja and Martin.
Apple growing in Val Venosta is not just a job – it’s a true calling.
Our families have been dedicated to apple growing for generations. Both of us wandered through the orchards as children and learned a great deal from our parents and grandparents. That knowledge is valuable to us, and we’ve built on tradition with our own ideas and innovative technologies. Being apple farmers is a true passion for us: every tree and every apple matters. Harvest time in autumn is always a special moment. Each apple reflects a year of hard work and care – and we’re proud to hold the result in our hands.
Family tradition
Apples have been grown in Val Venosta since 1930, with knowledge passed down through generations.
Small-scale structures
Farms in the region average about 3 hectares in apple orchard size.
1,500 Farming families

Sustainable Farming
In harmony with nature
Hi, I’m Christoph.
With close attention to nature and a focus on ecological balance – that’s how sustainable apple growing succeeds.
As an apple farmer, I observe nature every day. That’s how you really notice the biodiversity in an orchard. Bees pollinate the blossoms. Ladybugs and other insects keep pests in check. I work in harmony with nature, conserve natural resources, and promote biodiversity in my orchards. After all, how else could I harvest healthy, high-quality apples that I can pass on with a clear conscience? It feels good to give back to nature – and to know that I’m leaving behind a sustainable future for my children.
Promoting biodiversity
Insect hotels, flowering strips, and dry stone walls provide habitats for wildlife in the orchards.
Less is more
Crop protection products are only used when other ecological methods aren't enough to safeguard the harvest.
Conserving resources
Around 60% of Val Venosta‘s orchards use water-saving drip irrigation systems.
