Florian runs the Kellerhäusl farm in the village. It has been in the family for generations and Florian is pleased to be able to follow in the footsteps of his ancestors. He has added to the land belonging to the farm by renting other plots, some of which are several kilometres away. Making wine is Florian's hobby, but his main talents are in apple growing. The fact that he runs several local businesses is recognition of this. Florian sees the sloping terrain of the Monte Sole and their protected, sun-drenched topography as the main factor behind the high quality of his apples. That, and the fact that he has been organic for over 10 years in growing his Golden Delicious, Jonagold, Gala, Braeburn and Pinova. The main reason for switching to organics was personal, says Florian. It just means that he is able to grow them with so much more joy.

Golden Delicious is our main variety and, therefore, the queen of Val Venosta apples. That the most popular apple has a real quality, can be seen in its lovely red cheek. By the way, this is typical of fruits on a hillside.
