Egart farm in Corces is at the foot of the Monte Sole Mountain, surrounded by extensive chestnut groves. Andreas Gemassmer is now the third generation in his family to manage it. His father helps out when they are short-handed and occasionally local friends come too. Andreas is someone who knows exactly what he wants. His decision to go organic was informed and taken purposefully. Even though the extra work involved is not always easy for someone who has to live with just one leg. These days Andreas tends to his orchards' fertility by using gentle products and beneficial organisms.
