The name of our farm, “Dökterlehof,” goes back to my great-grandfather. He was known and appreciated for his knowledge and advice in veterinary medicine. For this, the people in Silandro affectionately gave him the title “Dökterle” (little doctor).
My son Lukas was the driving force behind our transition to organic farming. He is the farm manager for me and also for the orchards of my wife Viktoria.
We cultivate both traditional and new club varieties. There is something for every taste: the pleasantly sweet Royal Gala, the classically sweet Golden Delicious, the tangy Kanzi, the nectar-sweet Ambrosia, the tart Bonita, the tempting Cosmic Crisp… a rich variety of flavours and colours.
In growing these delicious apples, we learn something new every day – through patient observation and the willingness to work closely with nature here in the apple paradise of Vinschgau.
