Preparation
For the apple chips with cinnamon, wash and dry the apples. Preheat the oven to 110°C and line two baking trays with baking paper. Cut the apples horizontally into thin slices of approx. 2 mm. Arrange the apple slices on the baking trays in a single layer. Put the cinnamon in a sieve and sprinkle the apple slices with cinnamon.
Bake the apple slices in the oven at 110°C for approx. 1 hour. Then turn them and bake again for another 45 minutes, putting a wooden spoon in the oven door to allow the steam to come out. Your apple chips are ready when their edges curl and they are dry. The dehydration time may vary depending on the thickness of the slices. So you’d better check them towards the end of the baking time.
At first, your apple chips will still be a bit soft, but once cooled they will become crunchy. Store the apple chips in a paper bag to maintain their crunchiness.
Tip
Dried apples tend to be sweeter than fresh ones, so there is no need to add sugar. If you prefer them very sweet, however, you can sprinkle the apple slices with a mix of cinnamon and powdered sugar.
